By far, this has been my favorite book in the Vampire Academy series. First of all, I did not expect at all that Lissa and the gang were going to break Rose from jail. I would have expected Rose escaping on her own or something like that. Also, Sydney helping was a huge shocker too.
What was even a bigger shocker was finding out that Tasha was the one who killed Queen Tatiana. In my opinion, it is kind of harsh to frame Rose for killing the Queen just so Rose is executed and she had Dimitri all for herself. But I guess since the murder was for political reasons mostly, framing Rose was like killing two birds with one stone. Kill the Queen because you do not agree with her policies and frame your rival so you have the man you love all for yourself. Pretty smart for Tasha.
I really like that Rose gets her happy ending in a way. Things with Adrian did not end that well but sometimes Rose needs to realize that she should be happy too. She should do what is right for her first. I feel she kind of realized that when she was breaking up with Adrian at the end. Although Rose and Dimitri’s relationship still will have its difficulties, due to the fact that they are guardians and stuff like that, but I think it is something that they can totally work on.
And last but not least, Lissa was crowned Queen. Another shocker I must say. This book was definitely filled with shockers but overall a wonderful read.
